Position Overview

Owns the automation, control systems, and SCADA integration layer. Ensures BMS, SCADA, BAS, and DCIM are correctly integrated, instrumented, and automated before and during the ingestion period. This is the senior, hands-on technical practitioner who designs, configures, tests, and commissions control-system integrations and who builds the platform API connectivity between operational systems until that scope justifies dedicated reports. As the function scales, this role grows a small team (Sr. Engineer BMS/SCADA, Automation Engineer, API Developer) rather than those being standalone seats.

Key Responsibilities

Integrate BMS / SCADA / BAS with DCIM and operational platforms; develop graphics, point databases, alarm management, and trend logging

Lead control-system commissioning and integration-readiness assessments — verifying point mapping accuracy, alarm setpoints, control logic behavior, and SCADA display correctness

Design and validate automation sequences for chiller staging, power management, environmental control, and IT load response against defined scenarios before deployment

Produce OR-gate technical evidence point verification logs, alarm test records, staging logic validation, control philosophy compliance

Build and maintain REST API integrations between operational platforms (auth, transformation, error handling, retry) with monitoring and a current integration registry

Govern OT security posture for control systems vulnerabilities, network segmentation, firmware currency

Maintain as-built documentation for each active site; coordinate with the Enterprise SI Architect on integration design and the Systems Integration Service Management Engineer on Jira workflow triggers

Qualifications

10–14+ years in control systems, BMS/SCADA integration, or OT engineering in datacenter/critical infrastructure

Deep BMS expertise — Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure, Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara — and SCADA familiarity (Ignition, Wonderware, or equivalent)

Strong REST API integration and platform connectivity (Python, Node.js, or equivalent); experience with Sunbird, NetBox, ServiceNow, Palantir Foundry, or Attune

Open-protocol fluency: BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, OPC-UA, SNMP

CAP, CCST, CDCE, or equivalent preferred

Ward County BMS/SCADA integration fully commissioned and verified before ingestion begins points mapped, alarms set, staging logic validated

OR-gate evidence for all control-system gates complete, accurate, and on schedule

Automation sequences for routine operational events live, tested, and documented before RFS

Operational platform integrations live, monitored, and bidirectional — no manual data transfers

The range below reflects the base salary for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and/or commission programs. Nscale may offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible paid time off, parental leave, and retirement plan participation.

Salary Range $180,000 — $220,000 USD
