Junior IT Auditor

Role purpose: Support the planning and execution of IT audits to evaluate technology controls, risks, and compliance, and to help improve governance, security, and operational effectiveness.

Core responsibilities

• Assist with IT audit planning, scoping, and walkthroughs of processes and systems.
• Perform control testing for IT general controls (access management, change management, backups, logging/monitoring) and selected application controls.
• Collect and analyze evidence, document workpapers, and maintain clear audit trails.
• Identify control gaps, assess risk impact, and support remediation tracking with stakeholders.
• Help prepare audit reports, findings, and presentations for internal teams and management.
• Support compliance activities (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC, SOX, GDPR) as applicable.
• Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to understand systems, data flows, and third-party dependencies.

Required skills and qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of IT controls, cybersecurity concepts, and risk management.
• Understanding of common frameworks and standards (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, NIST, ISO 27001).
• Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and technical configurations.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and documentation tools; familiarity with audit tools is a plus.
