Job purpose
Provide additional oversight for electrical installation, testing, and energization activities as electrical works increase during the construction stage. Ensure full condition and compliance with Saudi Aramco GI and procedures during the MCC stage.
The purpose of the electrical engineer is to guarantee the compliance from the contractor within the following subjects:
The scope of work
The Aramco and international applicable standards
The quality of the engineering design
Optimization of electrical project design to optimize the operational cost & maintenance cost
The appropriate equipment manufacturing
The project engineering and purchasing schedule
Project scope of work
The Master Gas Expansion PhIII (MGSIII) program is designed to efficiently meet the kingdom's energy demand in central and western regions. MGSIII includes the installation of new booster gas compression stations at existing East-West Pump Station-10, additional compression trains at BGCS-1, 3, and 5, installation of 56-inch pipelines totaling 1,650 kilometers along the East-West pipeline corridor, and 56-inch pipelines totaling 1,100 kilometers from EWPS-10 to Shoaibah and Shoqaiq. Pipeline connections to industrial customers will also be installed nationwide.
Key responsibilities and duties
Review design packages for electrical systems and equipment including drawings, datasheets, detail scope of work, calculations, Bill of Material/Quantity, preliminary cost estimates, Hazardous Area Classification, and System Study.
Prepare the project design basis document as per the project scope.
Prepare the entire project load lists based on the project scope.
Produce technical reports for the scope of work and technical specifications for specific electrical equipment not covered by Saudi Aramco Engineering Standard and Material Specification.
Manage the electrical activities of engineering, procurement, and construction contractors during the Front End Engineering Development and design phase.
Coordinate with project managers to finalize the electrical engineering scope for the entire project/package.
Carry out analysis of major equipment selected in the design package.
Review and respond to technical and site queries.
Support and attend the equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
Ensure project execution aligns with Saudi Aramco and international industrial standards.
Monitor and review performance and work quality of the contractor in coordination with Saudi Aramco PMT.
Ensure contractor design is in accordance with applicable standards, codes, and best practices.
Assist project managers and engineers in evaluating material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations, and perform procurement support.
Review and evaluate change orders for compliance with standards and budget.
Work closely with engineering teams to ensure facility integrity in terms of HSE.
Provide technical assurance for electrical discipline deliverables.
Prepare approvals of electrical engineering packages prior to construction release.
Lead and recommend improvement solutions for installations or modifications to improve facilities and standards.
Requirements
Educational & technical requirements
10-15 years of experience in design, engineering, and construction (Aramco experience is preferable)
Bachelor's degree within Electrical Engineering or a BA in Science with a focus in Electrical Engineering
Certified engineer desirable
Familiar with NEC, IEEE/ANSI, IEC, and other international electrical standards and best practices
Proficient with analogue and digital control systems including Power System Automation (PSA), DCS, PLC, and SCADA controls
Excellent English language skills, including analysis, studies, and professional presentations
Experience with Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) or similar software and all Microsoft Office applications
