Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

About the Role

Kaseya is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our Infrastructure and Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, performance tuning, high availability, and day-to-day administration of Microsoft SQL Server environments that power our enterprise Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform. You will work closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to ensure our database tier is secure, resilient, and optimized at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration and Operations

Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances (2016 / 2019 / 2022) on Windows Server environments

Manage database lifecycle activities including provisioning, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning

Monitor and enforce database health, availability, and capacity across all production, staging, and development environments

Administer and optimize SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering (WSFC), and Log Shipping for HA and DR

Maintain and test backup and recovery procedures, ensuring recovery point and time objectives are consistently met

Performance Tuning and Optimization

Proactively identify and resolve query performance issues using execution plans, wait statistics, and extended events

Implement and maintain indexes, statistics, and partitioning strategies to optimize query throughput

Conduct regular performance baselines and capacity planning reviews for RMM workloads

Collaborate with application developers to review and optimize T-SQL code, stored procedures, and schema design

Security and Compliance

Enforce database security best practices including least-privilege access controls, login auditing, and TDE encryption

Support security review processes (PASR, NIST CSF) by providing database architecture documentation and risk assessments

Coordinate with the security team during vulnerability assessments, patch cycles, and compliance audits

High Availability and Disaster Recovery

Design and maintain HA and DR architectures aligned with enterprise RTO and RPO requirements

Conduct and document regular DR failover drills and recovery tests

Coordinate with the infrastructure team on Windows Server and storage configurations that affect SQL Server availability

Required Qualifications

5 or more years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production enterprise environment

Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 through 2022) administration on Windows Server platforms

Strong command of T-SQL including advanced query writing, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and query plan analysis

Proven experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clustering

Solid understanding of backup and recovery strategies, including full, differential, transaction log, and point-in-time restores

Hands-on experience with performance tuning using execution plans, DMVs, wait statistics, and extended events

Experience managing SQL Server security including logins, roles, schemas, auditing, and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for DBA automation and Windows Server administration tasks

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE (Data Management and Analytics), or equivalent

Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.

Working knowledge of NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks for SQL Server, or similar security frameworks
