Software Engineer - Video

Accountabilities Design, develop, deploy, and maintain high-performance backend services supporting real-time voice communications with a focus on scalability, reliability, and low latency.

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, technical design, sprint planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

Build robust RESTful APIs and event-driven services while continuously improving system architecture and operational efficiency.

Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize distributed production systems while participating in on-call rotations and incident response activities.

Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to architectural discussions, design reviews, and engineering best practices.

Leverage AI-powered development tools responsibly to improve productivity while ensuring code quality, security, maintainability, and performance.

Contribute innovative ideas that improve platform resilience, customer experience, and overall engineering excellence.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

2–3+ years of professional experience developing large-scale distributed backend applications using Java or other JVM technologies.

Strong understanding of RESTful API development, event-driven architectures, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or Amazon SQS.

Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OpenStack.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment processes, and modern software delivery practices.

Hands-on experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and software architecture.

Experience using AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) with the ability to evaluate AI-generated code for quality, correctness, and security.

Excellent written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote engineering environment.

Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, caching technologies, SIP, STIR/SHAKEN protocols, or highly scalable production systems is considered an asset.

$138,700–$173,400 (select U.S. states)

$146,800–$183,600 (select higher-cost markets)

Up to $203,900 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
