We are seeking a hands-on and motivated Senior Software Engineer specializing in Test Automation to contribute to the quality engineering efforts for Infinia, DDN’s large-scale distributed data platform.
In this role, you will work on validating distributed system components by developing test strategies, building automation, and executing performance and reliability tests. You will collaborate closely with development, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure high product quality and continuous improvement in test coverage and processes.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, automation, and working on complex systems at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALITY ENGINEERING & SYSTEM VALIDATION
- Develop and execute system test plans for distributed system components such as scheduling, memory, I/O paths, and platform services.
- Validate system functionality, data consistency, and multi-tenant behavior under different scenarios.
- Assist in identifying gaps in test coverage and contribute to improving validation strategies.
AUTOMATION FRAMEWORKS & TOOLING
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases using tools such as Python and Pytest.
- Contribute to existing automation frameworks and improve test reliability and efficiency.
- Explore and introduce new tools to improve automation efficiency.
PERFORMANCE, RELIABILITY & SCALE TESTING
- Execute performance and scalability tests to evaluate system throughput, latency, and stability.
- Help analyze system behavior using logs, metrics, and monitoring tools to identify issues.
- Support debugging and troubleshooting of defects found during testing.
COLLABORATION & DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
- Work closely with developers and QA team members to understand features and validate functionality.
- Participate in feature discussions and provide inputs from a testability and quality perspective.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reproduce issues and verify fixes.
DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
- Document test cases, test results, and automation workflows.
- Maintain clear records of defects, test coverage, and validation reports.
- Contribute to improving QA processes and best practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Python for test automation
- Proven track record developing comprehensive test automation suites for complex systems
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (pytest, unittest, Robot Framework, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to own and deliver test automation features in fast-paced environments
- Understanding of distributed storage systems testing challenges and solutions
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated testing integration
- Advanced Linux skills including networking, filesystems, and block storage
- Familiarity with containerized testing environments and Docker
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience validating large-scale data platforms, storage engines, or distributed scheduling systems.
- Experience working on data platforms, storage systems, or backend infrastructure systems.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
- Knowledge of API testing tools and methodologies (REST, GraphQL)
- ISTQB certification or equivalent knowledge is a plus.
