PostgreSQL & ClickHouse Database Administrator

We are looking for a PostgreSQL & ClickHouse Database Administrator to ensure the reliability, availability, security, performance, and recoverability of the Bank’s PostgreSQL and ClickHouse database platforms. The role will initially focus on database platforms supporting the Bank’s BPM and Data Warehouse / Enterprise Data Management (EDM) environments and will progressively support PostgreSQL and ClickHouse platforms across the Bank as their use expands. You will administer production database environments, implement and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery mechanisms, optimize database performance, and support the Bank’s evolving OLTP → CDC/Kafka → OLAP/ClickHouse data architecture in collaboration with Infrastructure, Data Engineering, Development, Architecture, and Information Security teams.

Administer, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL and ClickHouse databases, clusters, and related services. Manage database users, roles, permissions, RBAC, encryption, SSL/TLS, and secure connectivity in accordance with the Bank’s security requirements. Implement and maintain High Availability (HA), replication, clustering, and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including Patroni, PgBouncer, Streaming Replication, ClickHouse Keeper/ZooKeeper, ReplicatedMergeTree, and sharding. Implement and automate backup, recovery, and DR procedures using technologies such as WAL-G, pgBackRest, and clickhouse-backup, including regular recovery testing. Monitor database health, availability, performance, resource utilization, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving reliability and performance issues. Perform query analysis and optimization, configuration tuning, indexing, storage optimization, capacity planning, and growth management for PostgreSQL and ClickHouse workloads. Troubleshoot production incidents, performance degradation, replication failures, failed jobs, and other database issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions. Support controlled database schema, configuration, and production changes in coordination with application and development teams, and maintain relevant technical and operational documentation. Support the Bank’s OLTP → CDC → Kafka → OLAP/ClickHouse architecture, including CDC, data streaming, ingestion, data consistency, monitoring, failure handling, and operational troubleshooting. Collaborate with Data Engineering and EDM teams to ensure reliable data flows between transactional and analytical environments, while maintaining clear database-platform administration responsibilities. Ensure database platforms comply with the Bank’s information security, change management, backup, monitoring, and operational control requirements. Support audits, incident investigations, vulnerability remediation, and security-related database activities.

Requirements 3+ years of relevant professional experience in database administration, preferably with production PostgreSQL and/or ClickHouse environments. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, including clustering, replication, performance tuning, backup, and recovery. Practical knowledge of ClickHouse administration, including clustering, replication, performance optimization, and analytical workloads. Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS), including system parameters, storage, disk I/O, and performance optimization. Practical understanding of High Availability (HA), replication, backup/recovery, and Disaster Recovery (DR) principles and technologies. Understanding of OLTP → CDC → Kafka → OLAP/ClickHouse architecture, including data capture, streaming, ingestion, data consistency, monitoring, and failure handling. Knowledge of database security, including access controls, RBAC, encryption, SSL/TLS, and secure connectivity. Higher technical education or equivalent relevant professional experience. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with CDC/Kafka-based data pipelines involving PostgreSQL and ClickHouse. Experience with Patroni, PgBouncer, WAL-G, pgBackRest, ClickHouse Keeper/ZooKeeper, ReplicatedMergeTree, and clickhouse-backup. Experience working with high-volume or data-intensive production database environments. Understanding of Data Warehouse, OLAP, Big Data, and enterprise data-platform architectures. Experience with database monitoring, observability, and performance-management tools. Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure/database automation practices. Experience in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated enterprise environments.
