About the role

Agile Robots SE is a high-tech startup based in Munich. Our mission is to bridge the gap between AI and robotics by developing robotic systems that offer state-of-the-art full-body force sensitivity and world-leading vision intelligence. This unique combination of technologies enables us to provide intelligent, easy-to-use, and affordable robotic solutions with safe human-robot interaction.

We are a dynamic and innovative software development company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology. We specialize in creating cutting-edge solutions that transform industries and redefine user experiences.

Your Responsibilities

Design and implement a robust REST API and WebRTC-based communication server running on embedded Linux robot hardware

Expose and maintain a well-defined API layer consumed by browser-based clients, either desktop or mobile (layouting)

Integrate the backend server with communication middleware (e.g. ROS2) to bridge robot internals and external consumers

Own the server architecture end-to-end — including design, deployment, debugging, documentation, and release

Ensure API reliability, performance, and security within embedded Linux constraints

Collaborate with frontend and robotics software teams on interface contracts and integration

Develop both rapid proof-of-concept implementations and production-grade server components

Essential Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field • 5+ years of professional backend development experience

Proficient in Python; working knowledge of C++ in a systems or robotics context

Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and real-time communication protocols (WebRTC)

Experience with communication middleware (e.g. ROS2) and its underlying concepts (pub/sub, services, actions)

Experience deploying and operating backend services on embedded Linux systems as well as designing the frontend counterpart

Strong understanding of API design principles, versioning, and documentation

Strong debugging and fault analysis skills at the application and network level

Beneficial Skills

Experience with containerization on embedded targets (Docker, lightweight runtimes)

Familiarity with frontend technologies (browser-based UI/UX)

Experience with authentication and secure communication (TLS, token-based auth)

Familiarity with robotics system architecture and real-time constraints
