CHIEF ENGINEER

Head of the engine department. Responsible to the master for administration, supervision, and the safe, efficient and economical operations of the department. He is in charge of the maintenance and safe and efficient operations of all machineries aboard ship. he must ensure also that sufficient bunkers and other essential engine related stores and consumables are maintained. Assists in the proper implementation of SMS particularly in the engine department. Adheres to the Company's policies and instructions. Signs and ensures that other engine officers and ratings follow the Standing Order accordingly. Keeps Master and the Company fully informed on all matters that affects the interest of the same. Assumes full responsibility for the safety of all engine personnel. The supervision, conduct and ability of all engine department crew and ensuring that all work is performed in a safe . Advises the Master of machinery and equipment failure and the implications regarding seaworthiness, delays and other matters, including concerns regarding departmental issues. Implement Ship Maintenance Plan.

Specific Duties: Supervises the bunkering operations. Maintains sufficient bunkers and other essentials engine related stores and consumables. Personally supervises the safe and efficient loading and tranferring of bunkers. Signs the Engine Room Logbook daily to show that inspection of machineries have been undertaken. Monitoring the conditions of the machinery whilst on passage. Prepares ship's machineries for surveys by authorities and classification society. During emergencies, in charge of power and propulsion.

Qualifications/Requirements: Holds MDM2 or OIC License With Valid DCOC, MARINA License ID
