Structural Steel CNC Equipment Operator Location: York, PA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 1st and 2nd Shift Available Starting Pay: From $23.00 per hour (higher compensation may be available based on experience) Position Overview We are looking for a dependable CNC Equipment Operator to support structural steel fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operating CNC-controlled machinery used to process steel components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safe production practices. The ideal candidate has experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment, understands fabrication drawings, and is comfortable operating industrial equipment in a fast-paced production setting.

Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.

Read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and production work orders to determine project requirements.

Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.

Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and production accuracy.

Inspect completed parts using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision measuring tools.

Make basic CNC program edits to accommodate different material sizes and thicknesses.

Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor machine issues.

Follow OSHA guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education is a plus.

At least 2 years of CNC machine operating experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.

Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawings.

Experience using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.

Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment is preferred.

Strong mechanical skills with excellent attention to detail.

Able to work independently while also contributing to a team-oriented production environment.
