Overview:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
Minimum 8+ years of experience in Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, CAPEX Procurement, or Industrial Project environments.
This role is responsible for managing procurement activities supporting major CAPEX investments, plant expansion initiatives, and industrial equipment projects across North America.
The successful candidate will lead sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and cost management activities while partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Industrial Project teams.
The ideal candidate is a highly autonomous procurement professional with strong experience in industrial equipment purchasing, project-based sourcing, supplier negotiations, and capital expenditure management within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Capital Equipment Procurement
Lead sourcing and procurement activities for manufacturing equipment and industrial systems
Manage RFQ, RFP, supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and contract execution
Support capital investment projects from planning through implementation
Develop sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, timing, and operational requirements
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering
Industrial Projects Support
Partner with Industrial Project teams to support plant expansion, capacity increase, and manufacturing investment initiatives
Participate in project planning, budgeting, procurement scheduling, and implementation activities
Ensure procurement milestones align with overall project timelines
Support project teams throughout equipment installation and launch phases
Supplier Relationship Management
Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic suppliers for capital equipment and industrial services
Lead supplier negotiations covering pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and service agreements
Manage supplier performance and ensure delivery commitments are achieved
Build long-term supplier partnerships supporting future investments
Contract Management & Commercial Leadership
Negotiate contracts, purchase agreements, and commercial terms
Evaluate total cost of ownership and financial impacts of sourcing decisions
Mitigate commercial and supply chain risks associated with large capital projects
Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and procedures
Cost Analysis & Financial Support
Perform detailed cost analysis and benchmarking activities
Support capital expenditure forecasting and project budgeting efforts
Prepare business cases, sourcing recommendations, and executive-level presentations
Track purchasing performance, savings, and project financial metrics
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, Program Management, and Industrial Project teams
Support technical and commercial evaluations during supplier selection
Participate in project reviews and stakeholder meetings
Act as the procurement representative within major CAPEX initiatives
Project Management & Execution
Manage multiple sourcing activities and project priorities simultaneously
Monitor procurement schedules and proactively address project risks
Support successful implementation of capital projects across multiple locations
Ensure deliverables are completed within project timelines
Profile:
Experienced CAPEX procurement professional capable of operating independently with minimal supervision
Strong sense of ownership and accountability for project outcomes
Comfortable working in fast-paced industrial environments with multiple stakeholders
Effective communicator able to influence both technical and commercial discussions
Results-driven and capable of pushing projects forward in complex organizations
Strong analytical mindset with excellent commercial judgment
Ability to balance strategic sourcing initiatives with day-to-day project execution
Highly organized with strong prioritization and time management skills
Must Have:
8+ years of purchasing, strategic sourcing, or procurement experience
Significant experience supporting CAPEX and industrial investment projects
Experience sourcing and negotiating for industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, automation, or production assets
Strong contract negotiation and supplier management experience
Proven project management capabilities
Experience collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams
Strong cost analysis and commercial evaluation skills
Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities
Ability to create and deliver executive-level presentations
Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and become productive quickly
Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments
Good to Have:
Automotive industry experience
Plant expansion, brownfield, or manufacturing growth project experience
Exposure to industrial building, facilities, or infrastructure-related procurement
Experience supporting multiple sites or large-scale capital programs
Background in industrial project organizations
Knowledge of automation, robotics, assembly systems, or manufacturing technologies
Previous leadership or team coordination experience
Experience within Tier 1 automotive suppliers or large manufacturing organizations
Engineering or technical background complementing procurement expertise
