Primary SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Brighton Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday Start Date: ASAP / October 2026 Contract: Long-term Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Academics are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Brighton .
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with additional needs who is passionate about helping pupils feel confident, included and able to reach their full potential.
The Role:
- Support pupils with a range of SEN and additional needs
- Provide individual and small-group support both in and outside the classroom
- Help pupils access the curriculum and engage positively with their learning
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent support
- Adapt your approach to meet individual pupils' needs
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN/additional needs in a UK school setting
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach
- Confident supporting children with a range of additional needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, adaptable and passionate about working with children
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one
