Construction Robotics & Automation (Productivity) Engineer

To drive construction productivity improvement through the adoption, implementation, testing, operation, and optimization of construction robotics, automation systems, mechanized equipment, and innovative construction technologies across project sites.
1. Robotics & Automation Implementation
- Identify suitable construction activities for robotics and automation deployment.
- Lead the implementation of robotic and automated solutions on project sites.
- Coordinate installation, testing, commissioning, and operation of robotic systems.
- Monitor performance and effectiveness of deployed automation technologies.
- Ensure smooth integration of robotics into site operations.
2. Productivity Improvement Initiatives
- Conduct productivity studies and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and implement productivity enhancement programmes.
- Analyze manpower-intensive activities and propose automation alternatives.
- Evaluate productivity gains achieved through robotics and mechanization.
- Prepare productivity improvement reports and recommendations.
3. Construction Technology Assessment
- Research emerging construction robotics and automation technologies.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new technologies.
- Evaluate equipment suitability for different project types and site conditions.
- Recommend innovative construction methods to improve efficiency and safety.
- Benchmark industry best practices and technological advancements.
4. Equipment Management & Optimization
- Monitor utilization rates of robotic and automated equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with vendors and service providers.
- Troubleshoot operational issues affecting productivity.
- Optimize deployment strategies to maximize equipment effectiveness.
- Maintain equipment performance records and usage data.
5. Pilot Projects & Innovation Trials
- Lead pilot testing of new robotic and automation solutions.
- Develop implementation plans and trial methodologies.
- Measure operational performance against predefined KPIs.
- Document lessons learned and best practices.
- Recommend wider deployment where successful.
6. Site Operations Support
- Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams on productivity initiatives.
- Provide technical support during implementation of automation systems.
- Train site personnel on operation and maintenance of robotic equipment.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements and operational standards.
- Assist project teams in overcoming implementation challenges.
7. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers and technology providers.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and technical specifications.
- Coordinate demonstrations and proof-of-concept exercises.
- Manage vendor performance during implementation stages.
- Maintain relationships with industry partners and research institutions.
8. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure robotic and automated systems comply with workplace safety requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments for new automation technologies.
- Develop safe work procedures for robotic operations.
- Monitor compliance with MOM, WSH and project requirements.
- Support safety audits related to automation systems.
Job Requirements
Education
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in construction, automation, robotics, mechanization, or productivity improvement.
- Experience in implementing construction technology solutions is advantageous.
- Experience with automated construction equipment and machinery preferred.
