Junior MEP / M&E Engineer
Obavezno:AIJunior
About the role
Well Smart International Investment is a Singapore-based group with operations in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Our building projects in Australia and New Zealand range from villas and low-rise buildings to a resort redevelopment, and we run building design in-house on an AI-assisted workflow.
This is a junior role with real responsibility. You will be the company's MEP engineer on live projects, covering electrical, ACMV, plumbing and fire protection, with the CEO and external consulting engineers reviewing your work. Most candidates are stronger on either the electrical or the mechanical side, and that is fine: tell us which, and we will help you build up the other.
What you will do
Electrical
- Prepare electrical designs and calculations: maximum demand, cable sizing and voltage drop, single-line diagrams, lighting, small power, emergency lighting, standby power, earthing and lightning protection.
- Design fire alarm and detection systems, and ELV systems: data and telecoms, CCTV and access control.
Mechanical
- Prepare ACMV designs and calculations: cooling and heating loads, equipment selection on energy performance and whole-of-life cost, duct and pipe sizing, mechanical ventilation, exhaust and smoke control.
- Design plumbing and sanitary services (called hydraulic services in Australia and New Zealand): cold and hot water, sanitary drainage and stormwater.
- Design wet fire protection: sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps and water storage.
Across all MEP services
- Model and draw MEP services in Revit and AutoCAD, and coordinate ducts, pipes and cable trays with the architectural and structural designs.
- Get the interfaces between systems right: power supply to mechanical and pump equipment, and the fire alarm interface with sprinklers, fire pumps and smoke control.
- Use AI tools every day, including our AI-assisted design workflow, and check AI-generated calculations and drawings before anyone relies on them.
- Prepare specifications and equipment schedules for procurement, compare supplier offers, and review shop drawings and submittals.
- Coordinate with the external engineers and certifiers who endorse the design, and with contractors during construction.
- Occasional travel to project sites in Australia and New Zealand may be required.
Who we are looking for
Must have
- A degree in Electrical, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
- A grounding in building services design on at least one side, electrical (load estimation, cable sizing, single-line diagrams) or mechanical (cooling loads, equipment selection, duct and pipe sizing), and the willingness to learn the other.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and Revit or the willingness to learn it quickly.
- Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude or similar) for research, checking and documentation — you will use them daily here.
- Careful with numbers: you check your own work and speak up when something does not add up.
- Clear written and spoken English for drawings, reports and coordination with consultants and contractors.
Nice to have
- Internship or work experience with an M&E consultant, contractor or developer — internships count.
- Hands-on exposure to both electrical and mechanical services.
- Design software such as DIALux, Carrier HAP or Trane TRACE.
- Exposure to Australian or New Zealand standards (e.g. AS/NZS 3000, AS 1668, AS/NZS 3500) or Singapore codes (e.g. SS 638, SS 553, the SCDF Fire Code). We will train you on the ones you have not used.
- Working Mandarin, as need to read Chinese-language product data and deal with suppliers in China.
