CNC Machine Operator Monday–Thursday | 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM | Weekly Pay We don't do assembly lines. We specialize in "ultra-precision" machining for the aerospace and defense sectors, working with tolerances as tight as ±0.0001" (that's 1/50th the thickness of a human hair). Owens Industries delivers high-complexity, mission-critical components exclusively for defense, aerospace, and high-tech sectors. We operate at the physical boundaries of subtractive manufacturing, where conventional machining methods fall short. Specializing in low-volume, high-mix production of intricate geometries for aerospace and defense flight components, our machinists regularly maintain dimensional tolerances within ±0.0001" (2.5 microns) across challenging high-temp alloys and hard metals. We seek accomplished CNC operators who thrive on technical challenge, rigorous GD&T compliance, and flawless execution. Collaboration is central to our machining methodology. You will work closely alongside manufacturing engineers and programmers to refine toolpaths, optimize feed and speed parameters, reduce cycle times, and maximize fixture rigidity. Beyond cycle execution, machinists maintain workstation governance according to 5S lean standards, ensuring pristine machine condition, precise fluid management, and preventive maintenance on high-capital assets. Your Day Will Include Multi-Axis Operations: Execute complex setups and operate advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling and turning centers, utilizing precise work-holding, zero-point positioning systems, and multi-datum reference frames. Sub-Micron Machining: Machine complex features on exotic aerospace alloys including Titanium, Inconel, Stainless, and tool steels while holding true position, concentricity, and profile tolerances of ±0.0001". G-Code & Offset Control: Interpret Heidenhain G-code, adjust cutter compensation, geometry/wear offsets, and optimize feed/speed parameters to manage work hardening and tool deflection. Metrology & Quality Validation: Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using bore gauges, optical comparators, micro-height gages, air gages, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). GD&T Blueprint Mastery: Interpret complex engineering schematics adhering strictly to standards, including feature control frames, maximum material conditions (MMC), and datum reference structures. Engineering Synergy: Collaborate directly with manufacturing engineers, programmers, and quality personnel to refine machining strategies, cycle times, and fixture rigidity. Workstation Governance: Maintain pristine equipment condition, practice preventative maintenance, and adhere to 5S lean manufacturing standards within a cleanroom-grade shop floor. What You'll Bring Machining Background: MUST have 3–5+ years of hands-on CNC experience in high-precision job-shop or production environments serving preferably the aerospace or defense sectors. Machine & Control Proficiency: Proven experience operating high-end multi-axis CNC machines (Hermle 5-axis, Okuma, DMG Mori). Proficiency with Heidenhain controls preferred. Exotic Alloy Competency: Demonstrated capability machining Nickel-based superalloys, Titanium, Stainless Steels metals under tight thermal and chip-load constraints. Technical Literacy: Complete fluency in GD&T, shop math, and advanced metrology techniques. CAM & G-Code Familiarity: Knowledge of PowerMill CAM software or a willingness to learn and the ability to edit post-processed code at the console. Core Competencies: Acute mechanical intuition, problem-solving mindset, meticulous detail focus, ability to read and speak english fluently, and clear technical communication skills. Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand during shift hours, handle precision tooling and heavy fixturing, and safely lift up to 60 lbs. What You'll Find Here World-Class Capital Assets: Operate top-tier multi-million-dollar machine platforms, including Hermle 5-axis machining centers, Zeiss CMMs, and DMG Mori turning centers. Controlled Operating Environment: Work in a pristine, 24/7 climate-controlled environment maintained at constant temperature and humidity to ensure measurement repeatability and machine stability. Optimized Work Schedule: Benefit from a predictable 4x10 second-shift schedule (Mon–Thu), guaranteeing consecutive 3-day weekends every week. Organizational Stability: Build a long-term career with an established 80+ year industry leader dedicated to continuous re-investment in machinery, software, and staff capabilities. Compensation & Benefits Base Pay Scale: $25.00 – $38.00 per hour, evaluated based on CNC experience, G-code control, and tight-tolerance machining background. Payroll Regularity: Direct deposit processed weekly every Friday. Shift Structure: Initial training and technical skill verification conducted on 1st shift until required proficiency is met ( 4-12 weeks) Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Four 10-hour shifts per week with predictable shift handoffs and steady full-time hours. Monday through Thursday, 2:30 pm - 1:00 am. Health & Medical Coverage: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage options with employer HSA funding assistance. 401(k) Retirement Match: 401(k) program with employer matching up to 5%. 100% Employer-Funded Disability & Life: Fully paid Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Life Insurance policies. Additional Incentives: Employee Assistance Program (EAP), specialized technical training sponsorship, and quarterly company performance drawings.
