This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded structural engineering professional to work across a diverse range of building and infrastructure projects, contributing to projects from initial concept and design through to construction and completion. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions within demanding and highly regulated environments, the business works closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient, and compliant structural solutions. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting project delivery, developing designs, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring consistently high standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Your Role and Responsibilities

While in this position, your duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the delivery of structural engineering projects from initial concept and design through to construction and completion.
  • Producing structural designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Developing structural models and carrying out design calculations to support safe and efficient engineering solutions.
  • Working closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate structural designs with other engineering disciplines.
  • Supporting site surveys, inspections, and assessments to gather relevant technical information.
  • Attending project and site meetings and providing technical support throughout the construction phase.
  • Liaising with contractors and other project stakeholders to resolve design queries and site-related issues.
  • Reviewing technical information and identifying potential design or construction issues before they impact project delivery.
  • Ensuring structural designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Supporting the development and coordination of practical structural solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of technical reports, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Contributing to project planning and ensuring technical deliverables are completed within agreed programmes and deadlines.
  • Working collaboratively with senior engineers, project managers, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail across all design and engineering activities.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and developing your technical knowledge across a range of structural engineering projects.

What You Will Need to Apply:

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have previous experience within structural engineering, ideally gained within a consultancy, construction, infrastructure, or similar technical environment. You will have a good understanding of structural engineering principles and be confident contributing to design calculations, structural modelling, drawings, and technical documentation. Experience working across the full project lifecycle, from initial design through to construction and site support, would be highly advantageous. You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions while considering safety, compliance, cost, and project requirements. Experience working with senior engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams will be beneficial. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as you will be required to liaise with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience working within a Defence, infrastructure, construction, or other regulated environment would be advantageous. Candidates who already hold SC clearance, or who are eligible and willing to obtain the necessary clearance, would be particularly desirable. A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline would also be expected.

What You Will Get in Return:

In return for your skills and experience, the company is offering a salary of up to £50,000 , depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects within the Defence and infrastructure sectors. You will join an established and supportive engineering environment where you will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills and gain valuable experience across the full project lifecycle. Working alongside experienced structural engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will be exposed to a broad range of projects and engineering challenges. The business is committed to supporting professional development and provides an environment where engineers can continue to build their technical knowledge and progress their careers.
