Job purpose
Responsible for the process design, operation and implementation, improve industrial processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability.
Duties and responsibilities
Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data
Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
Perform process simulations
Manage cost and time constraints
Provide technical assurance to unit operations and ensure production plan delivery
Provide process documentation and operating instructions
Participate timely completion of Management of Change work (MOCs, medium to long term)
Utilise and perform maintenance of standardized monitoring tools to perform unit monitoring (spreadsheets, or data historians like PI Process Book, etc.)
Participate in special projects as required
Support senior operation support engineer as required
Consult technical specialist teams as required
Facilitate and participate in HAZOP studies, and other safeguarding reviews
Utilize structured problem-solving techniques as appropriate: option analysis, RCA, etc.
Ensure compliance with engineering related regulations and Shell standards
Promote and support compliance to operating integrity
Provide input into and support for the integrated activity plan
Support operations reliability improvement process to ensure timely and appropriate corrective action has been taken to ensure repeat failures are eliminated
Qualification & training requirements
BSc. Degree in chemical or petrochemical engineering.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of proven working experience in process engineering
Experience in process simulations, with working knowledge of process engineering software packages and knowledge of process related standards
Experience in different process industries, either upstream, downstream, gas plants or with engineering and construction major contractors
Language proficiency, computer and software skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Office
