Accountabilities: Lead GTM legal strategy: Serve as the senior legal advisor to Marketing, Affiliate, Product Marketing, Business Development, Enterprise Sales, and Customer Marketing, providing practical guidance on high-impact initiatives and helping teams achieve business objectives while appropriately managing risk.

Advise on advertising and consumer protection: Counsel teams on FTC requirements, endorsements and testimonials, TCPA and state mini-TCPAs, CAN-SPAM, telemarketing regulations, auto-renewals, free trials, and other applicable U.S. and international requirements.

Guide AI-related marketing activities: Advise on legal considerations surrounding AI-generated content, AI-related claims, and the use of AI tools in customer-facing, promotional, and advertising activities.

Support strategic GTM initiatives: Provide legal guidance on marketing campaigns, social influencer and affiliate programs, sponsorships, media and talent partnerships, events, and other customer-facing initiatives, emphasizing creative and commercially viable solutions.

Build scalable compliance frameworks: Develop and maintain training programs, playbooks, templates, escalation frameworks, and self-service resources that help business teams engage Legal efficiently and consistently.

Oversee influencer and affiliate programs: Establish and maintain appropriate contractual, governance, content-review, and disclosure frameworks, including compliance with applicable endorsement requirements.

Manage customer- and partner-facing terms: Oversee the development and enforcement of Terms of Service, affiliate program terms, contest and promotion rules, and other GTM-related contractual frameworks.

Protect intellectual property and brand assets: Oversee trademark portfolio management, brand-protection activities, domain matters, DMCA issues, and relationships with external trademark counsel.

Oversee commercial legal operations: Provide leadership across the commercial legal function, including strategic agreements, technology and integration partnerships, enterprise customer arrangements, sponsorships, events, and other complex commercial relationships.

Establish commercial risk standards: Partner with senior legal leadership to develop and operationalize risk frameworks, negotiation parameters, approval thresholds, and escalation processes.

Lead and develop the legal team: Set clear expectations around ownership, judgment, responsiveness, and performance while mentoring attorneys and legal professionals and expanding their capabilities.

Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with Product, Privacy, Compliance, Finance, Legal Operations, and executive leadership on matters requiring coordinated legal and business judgment.

Drive continuous improvement: Prioritize the highest-impact legal work, remove unnecessary roadblocks, and continuously improve processes that enable business teams to operate efficiently and responsibly.

Requirements:

Legal credentials: J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

Relevant experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, including substantial in-house experience in technology or SaaS environments and at least 3 years of experience leading attorneys or other legal professionals. Exceptional candidates with 8–9 years of highly relevant experience may also be considered.

Commercial expertise: Strong experience independently structuring, drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial and strategic agreements, with the ability to identify creative solutions to challenging deal issues.

GTM legal knowledge: Deep working knowledge of advertising and consumer protection requirements, including FTC advertising and endorsement rules, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and relevant state laws.

Influencer and affiliate experience: Direct experience advising on social influencer and affiliate marketing programs, including contractual frameworks and disclosure compliance.

Business partnership: Demonstrated experience advising Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Partnerships, Affiliate, or comparable go-to-market organizations, with familiarity with legal considerations surrounding AI in marketing and advertising.

Leadership capability: Proven ability to manage and develop legal teams, including experience with at least 3 direct or indirect reports, effective delegation, accountability structures, and professional development.

Executive influence: Strong ability to advise senior executives, communicate complex legal issues clearly, provide practical recommendations, and confidently challenge decisions when appropriate.

Strategic judgment: Exceptional prioritization and business judgment, with the ability to distinguish material risks and high-value legal work from lower-priority issues.

Process development: Experience creating scalable legal processes, templates, playbooks, negotiation guidelines, escalation frameworks, and self-service tools.

Communication and presence: Excellent communication skills, executive presence, interpersonal judgment, and a business-oriented approach focused on enabling solutions rather than simply identifying obstacles.

Adaptability: Comfortable operating in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments and making sound, defensible decisions without constant direction or a fully established playbook.

Additional experience: International advertising and consumer protection experience, regulatory investigations or enforcement matters involving agencies such as the FTC or state attorneys general, CLM platforms, and brand-protection programs are advantageous.

Benefits:

Salary: $193,000–$243,000 annually.
