Position Overview

We're seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Controller to own the day-to-day accounting function at Industrial Door Company (IDC). This is a single-entity role focused on process adherence, accurate financial reporting, and effective collaboration with a demanding but high-standards operations leadership team. The controller will handle AP, AR, and core accounting responsibilities while supporting project managers with revenue recognition and billing-related matters. The right candidate is responsive, organized, and thrives in an environment where expectations are clear and accountability is non-negotiable.

This role is full time Monday through Friday, onsite in Sacramento, CA.

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Process Adherence

Own AP, AR, and core accounting functions for a single-entity operation, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time

Maintain reliable month-end close processes and deliver consistent, clean financial reporting to business and CSP leadership

Ensure compliance with union-related billing requirements and AIA-style billing processes specific to the business

Reinforce accounting discipline and process adherence across the organization, flagging deviations and driving resolution

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with project managers to support revenue recognition, billing, and job costing as needed

Respond promptly to requests from operations leadership and demonstrate the reliability and responsiveness the team expects

Serve as the finance point of contact for the business, translating accounting requirements into practical operational guidance

Support the eventual transition of transactional finance work as shared services models develop across the platform

Systems & Continuous Improvement

Utilize ServiceTitan and other systems to maintain accurate financial records and streamline accounting workflows

Identify and close gaps in current accounting processes, bringing greater consistency and efficiency to routine functions

Support any system implementation or process improvement initiatives as the accounting function evolves

Maintain strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset across all areas of responsibility

Qualifications

BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

3 to 7 years of accounting experience in an operational business environment

Experience with AP, AR, and full-cycle accounting functions required

Familiarity with union billing, AIA billing, or construction/field services accounting a plus

ServiceTitan experience preferred

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with operations-focused, high-expectation leadership

Highly responsive and organized -- punctuality, reliability, and follow-through are essential in this environment

Comfortable in a hands-on role without extensive management responsibility; focused on execution and accuracy

Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles
