Job purpose

Join the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre, a cutting-edge maintenance facility where we deliver exceptional maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the engines of Emirates’ fleets. Our integrated team excels in engine technical services (ETS), propulsion planning and logistics, and more, all within our advanced engine shops and test cell. With a strong commitment to quality and safety, we streamline processes to strip, inspect, and rebuild engines seamlessly in one state-of-the-art location. Join us to be part of a team where precision and excellence drive every operation.

As an engine overhaul engineer at the test cell, you will play a key role in supervising and mentoring engineers, senior technicians, technicians, and mechanics as they carry out assembly, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repairs, refurbishment, modifications, testing, and rectification on all types of aircraft engines, engine systems, and engine components to a high standard at the EEMC test cell. You will be approved to certify your own tasks, as well as those directly under your supervision, and to certify and release work to service in accordance with airworthiness requirements and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommendations.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the activities and work of direct reports by providing mentoring and guidance to ensure work is carried out efficiently and in line with individual targets. Assist with providing feedback when targets or goals are not being achieved, and work with individuals to improve performance.
  • Manage all tasks for quality and accuracy by applying knowledge of the engine overhaul process, company procedures, and the use of the ESM, IPC, CMM, service bulletins (SBs), and airworthiness directives (ADs). Ensure paperwork and MRO ERP system tasks are completed progressively and in accordance with regulatory requirements, relevant MOE procedures, EPMs, and company policies.
  • Take responsibility for sectional metrics, targets, and planned work. Oversee staff allocation and training, ensuring assigned tasks align with individual approvals and competencies. Develop a skills matrix and training program to meet sectional requirements.
  • Create and promote a safe working environment for all staff. Ensure direct reports have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work safely in alignment with EEMC/EOW safety policy, and provide support and direction. Model desired safety behaviours and always lead with safety. Immediately report any safety or quality non-conformance through company procedures. Mitigate observed unsafe conditions, prevent incidents, and ensure all near misses are reported through company procedures and highlighted to the line manager.
  • Ensure your attendance and that of direct reports aligns with the sectional shift pattern. Monitor direct reports’ attendance and take action in accordance with company capability and disciplinary regulations. Lead daily toolbox meetings and actively participate in other meetings as required. Suggest, coordinate, and lead projects that improve processes, increase efficiency, or promote better practices.
  • Assess staff competencies, skills, and ability to gain self-certification approval. Assess senior technicians for inspector approval. Mentor technicians and mechanics, identify areas for improvement, and help them achieve the desired skill level. Provide technicians with guidance on approval applications, focusing on detailed regulatory and compliance understanding.
  • Manage the effective achievement of unit goals by setting individual goals, managing performance, developing, training, and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal feedback and appraisals to maximise subordinate performance.
  • Oversee efficient manpower management using the 145 roster or relevant roster for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. Maintain overtime within budgeted hours without compromising human factors.
  • Set staff annual business contribution evaluation goals and competencies effectively through quarterly and annual performance reviews.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical, mechanical, maintenance, avionics, electronics, or technical engineering; a valid maintenance engineering licence; or a relevant apprenticeship of at least two years.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Relevant engine overhaul workshop approval or authorisation.
  • At least three years of certifying experience as an approval holder within an aviation maintenance or MRO environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including the ability to review and action airworthiness directives (ADs) and service bulletins (SBs).
  • Proven ability to lead and delegate work to diverse teams, ensuring production targets, documentation, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Experience in risk assessments, audits, and compliance with MOE and regulatory procedures.
  • Ability to manage budgetary activities and coordinate effectively with support functions to achieve production and gate targets.

  • Competence in engine and component removal and installation, test-enabling hardware, engine preservation, and post-run inspections.
  • Good understanding of engine trend monitoring and statistical process control, including GE Intelligent Test Cell alerts and required actions.
  • Experience with DAS configuration and ASE2000, including software updates, backup, restore, and verification.
