Tasks:

  • Interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to plan methods or sequences of operation .
  • Operate heavy equipment.
  • Read blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements .
  • Use International Organization for Standardization (ISO) pattern joystick controls.
  • Use Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) controls pattern.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
  • Measure distance, volume, length and weight.
  • Understand the purpose, proper usgage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Complete onboard and other logs.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment.
  • Secure special attachments to equipment.
  • Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment.

  • Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification.
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
