*Position:* Gas Station Manager
- POSITION SUMMARY
The Gas Station Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, management, profitability, safety, customer service, and regulatory compliance of the Esso gas station and convenience store.
The Manager is responsible for ensuring the station operates efficiently and professionally, including fuel sales, convenience-store operations, inventory management, employee supervision, cash handling, equipment and facility maintenance, vendor coordination, health and safety, security, customer service, and compliance with all applicable company, Esso, municipal, provincial, and federal requirements.
The Manager must ensure that all station operations are conducted in accordance with applicable Esso/Imperial Oil operating standards, policies, procedures, branding requirements, and business practices.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Overall Station Operations
- Manage and oversee all day-to-day operations of the gas station and convenience store.
- Ensure the station is clean, organized, properly staffed, and operating efficiently at all times.
- Open and close the station in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure fuel pumps, dispensers, POS systems, payment terminals, cash registers, store equipment, lighting, signage, refrigeration, and other equipment are functioning properly.
- Monitor overall station performance and identify operational issues requiring corrective action.
- Ensure all employees follow company policies, operating procedures, and customer-service standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for operational matters involving employees, customers, vendors, contractors, service providers, and management.
B. Fuel Operations
- Oversee daily fuel operations and ensure proper operation of all fuel dispensers and related equipment.
- Monitor fuel deliveries and ensure deliveries are received, verified, and recorded accurately.
- Coordinate with fuel suppliers and delivery drivers regarding deliveries and operational requirements.
- Verify fuel quantities, grades, pricing, and delivery documentation.
- Monitor fuel inventory and investigate discrepancies, losses, or unusual variances.
- Perform or oversee daily fuel reconciliation and inventory reconciliation.
- Monitor underground tank levels and fuel inventory using applicable tank-monitoring systems.
- Report fuel leaks, spills, equipment failures, alarms, or environmental concerns immediately.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed during fuel deliveries and emergency situations.
- Maintain required fuel records and documentation.
C. Convenience Store Operations
- Manage all convenience-store activities, including merchandise sales, pricing, promotions, stocking, displays, and customer service.
- Maintain appropriate product levels and ensure shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays are properly stocked.
- Monitor product expiry dates and remove expired or damaged merchandise.
- Ensure pricing and promotional signage is accurate and current.
- Manage high-value, controlled, age-restricted, or regulated merchandise in accordance with applicable laws and company procedures.
- Monitor product shrinkage, theft, damage, and inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure the store maintains appropriate cleanliness and presentation standards.
D. Point-of-Sale (POS) & Business Software
- Operate and supervise the station's POS and retail-management systems.
- Ensure accurate processing of cash, debit, credit, mobile, fleet, gift-card, and other approved payment transactions.
- Monitor POS transactions and investigate unusual or incorrect transactions.
- Use applicable Esso/Imperial Oil systems and software required for station operations.
- Use fuel-management, fuel-reconciliation, inventory-control, and reporting systems.
- Use back-office management software, including systems such as *Engauge/MVP Engineering*, where applicable.
