Job brief:

As a Full Stack Software Engineer at The Weather Company, you will join our commercial aviation engineering team and play a key role in building and evolving the products that dispatchers and pilots rely on every day to make critical, time-sensitive decisions. You will harness TWC's industry-leading weather and flight data to develop compelling, high-performance visualizations and the APIs and services that power them. Working across a diverse technology stack, from modern tools like React, Go, MongoDB, and AWS to established platforms in .NET/C# and SQL Server, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the safety and efficiency of commercial aviation worldwide.

This is a hybrid role (3 days per week in office). Engineers on this team participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation following a structured training and onboarding period.

The impact you'll make:

Build and maintain full stack features across frontend and backend systems, delivering data-rich aviation applications used by dispatchers and pilots globally

Develop high-performance, intuitive visualizations that transform complex weather and flight data into clear, actionable information for aviation professionals

Design and extend RESTful APIs using Go and Node.js to serve real-time weather and flight data at scale

Build responsive, performant frontend interfaces in React that meet the demanding needs of aviation operations environments

Work with MongoDB and SQL Server to store, query, and manage large volumes of weather and flight data efficiently

Contribute to established products built on .NET/C# and SQL Server, ensuring continuity and quality across the full product portfolio

Deploy, monitor, and manage services on AWS, following cloud infrastructure and security best practices

Actively use AI coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to accelerate development velocity, improve code quality, and solve complex problems more effectively

Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability

Participate in code reviews, contributing constructive feedback and raising the bar for engineering quality across the team

Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and fellow engineers in an agile delivery environment

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across multiple systems, minimizing impact to aviation operations

Participate in the team's 24x7 on-call rotation (after a structured ramp-up period), supporting system reliability and incident response

What you've accomplished:

1–5 years of professional software development experience, with meaningful contributions to full stack applications

Demonstrated, practical experience using AI tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar) as part of your regular development workflow — in code generation, debugging, testing, or documentation

Proficiency in React or a comparable modern frontend framework, with the ability to build and maintain complex, data-driven UIs

Backend development experience in one or more of: Go, Node.js, or .NET/C#

Working knowledge of both relational databases (SQL Server or equivalent) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB or equivalent)

Solid understanding of REST API design and HTTP fundamentals

Experience with Git-based version control workflows in a collaborative team environment

A track record of writing readable, testable, maintainable code and taking ownership of quality

Ability to work effectively across multiple codebases and adapt to varying technology stacks

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to diagnose and resolve issues in complex distributed systems

Nice to have:

Experience building AI-powered product features or integrating LLM APIs into applications

Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, or similar services)

Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices

Experience with legacy system modernization

Background or interest in the commercial aviation or weather technology domain

Base Salary: $105,000 - $135,000

The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
