About the role

Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced secondary Humanities teacher with the ability to teach Business Studies. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Humanities lessons across the secondary school and contribute to the continued development of Business Studies at IGCSE and, where appropriate, AS Level.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Teach Humanities across Key Stage 3.

Teach Business Studies at IGCSE level.

Teach Geography, History or related Humanities subjects according to school need.

Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons.

Prepare students for internal and external examinations.

Use assessment data to monitor progress and improve outcomes.

Promote critical thinking, enquiry and independent learning.

Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.

Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental improvement.

Support extracurricular activities and the wider life of the school.

Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must have:

Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Geography, History, Business Studies, Economics or a closely related subject.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an internationally recognised equivalent.

PGCE, BEd or equivalent teaching qualification.

Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Essential experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

At least 3 years of successful secondary teaching experience.

Experience teaching the British curriculum.

Experience teaching Humanities at Key Stage 3.

Experience teaching Business Studies at IGCSE level.

Strong classroom management.

Experience using assessment to improve student outcomes.

Desirable experience

Experience teaching AS Level Business Studies.

Experience teaching Geography or History at IGCSE.

Experience in an international school environment.

Experience contributing to curriculum development.
