Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar is seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic and inspirational secondary chemistry teacher to join our successful science department.

The successful candidate will inspire students to develop a passion for chemistry while delivering engaging lessons across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and AS Level.

About the role

The successful candidate will:

Deliver outstanding chemistry lessons across the secondary school.

Teach chemistry at Key Stage 3, IGCSE and AS Level.

Support the wider science curriculum.

Create engaging and challenging learning experiences.

Monitor and assess student progress.

Maintain excellent classroom management.

Promote enquiry-based practical learning.

Prepare students for external examinations.

Contribute to curriculum development.

Participate fully in the wider life of the school.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Plan and deliver high-quality chemistry lessons.

Inspire students through practical and investigative science.

Maintain high expectations of achievement and behaviour.

Prepare students for IGCSE and AS examinations.

Use assessment effectively to improve student progress.

Support curriculum planning and resource development.

Ensure safe laboratory practice in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Contribute to enrichment activities including Science Week, STEM projects and competitions.

Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.

Participate in school events, extracurricular activities and professional development.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must have:

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related discipline.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

PGCE, BEd or equivalent.

Evidence of continued professional development.

Essential experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

At least 3 years of successful secondary chemistry teaching experience.

Experience teaching the British curriculum.

Experience teaching IGCSE chemistry.

Experience teaching AS Level chemistry is highly desirable.

Experience using assessment data to improve student outcomes.

Strong classroom management skills.
