WE’RE HIRING: HR MANAGER
Surf Ghana Collective is looking for an organised, reliable and proactive HR Manager to support our growing team.
The HR Manager will manage our daily HR needs while helping us develop a clear strategy for the organisation and its team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
HR strategy and team development
- Develop and implement Surf Ghana’s HR strategy
- Review the team structure and identify staffing needs
- Support workforce planning, staff retention and succession planning
- Develop clear HR policies, procedures and internal systems
- Strengthen team culture, communication and employee engagement
- Advise management on HR priorities, risks and decisions
Recruitment and onboarding
- Prepare job descriptions and publish vacancies
- Review applications and coordinate interviews
- Participate in interviews when required
- Prepare employment offers and contracts
- Coordinate the onboarding of new team members
Staff administration
- Prepare and update contracts, consultancy agreements and job descriptions
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
- Monitor contracts, probation periods and renewal dates
- Manage attendance, annual leave, sick leave and other absences
- Coordinate relevant HR information with the accounting team
- Ensure compliance with Ghanaian labour regulations
Performance and employee support
- Organise probation reviews and performance evaluations
- Develop performance improvement plans when required
- Follow up on agreed responsibilities and deadlines
- Support managers with staff performance and workplace challenges
- Help employees understand their roles, responsibilities and contracts
- Support professional development and training plans
- Handle sensitive situations with fairness and confidentiality
Offboarding and reporting
- Prepare resignation, termination and end-of-contract documents
- Coordinate handovers and the return of organisational property
- Conduct exit interviews when required
- Prepare regular HR reports covering completed actions, pending matters, risks and recommendations
REQUIRED PROFILE
- Qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management or a related field
- At least two years of relevant HR experience
- Good understanding of Ghanaian labour regulations
- Experience preparing contracts and professional HR documents
- Strong organisational, communication and follow-up skills
- Ability to work independently and respect deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Comfortable using Google Workspace and other digital tools
Previous experience with a non-profit, social enterprise, cultural organisation or growing small business would be appreciated.
Location: Ghana, remote, with occasional meetings in Accra
Position: Part-time
