Behaviour Mentor - SEMH Unit
We're working with a mainstream secondary school that is looking to recruit a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join its specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) unit.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs or additional learning needs, who can build positive relationships and make a genuine difference to pupils' lives.
The Role:
- Provide dedicated support to pupils within the school's specialist SEMH unit.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
- Implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to improve engagement and wellbeing.
- Support pupils in accessing lessons and reintegrating into mainstream classrooms where appropriate.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, pastoral teams and external professionals.
- Maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual support and behaviour plans.
We're Looking For:
- Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
- Experience in a secondary school, PRU, alternative provision or specialist setting (desirable).
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- A calm, patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships and establish clear boundaries.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
