Chief Designer & Engineer Manager

We're looking for: A Chief Designer & Engineer Manager is a senior technical role that owns the design integrity of the project. The role brings every discipline — structure, architecture and MEP — into one coordinated, calculated and buildable set, and issues it for tender and for site execution. It is the single point of ownership for project design documentation. Primary deliverable: one coordinated, complete, correct and construction-ready design set across all disciplines, issued for tender or for execution. This is the single result the role is accountable for. Immediate priority: bring the project's current design documentation into one coordinated, verified and construction-ready set — closing open technical questions and aligning all disciplines — before it is released for execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Management: Brief and task design contractors, control the timeline and completeness of each discipline's output, and accept deliverables.
• Design & Discipline Coordination: Coordinate the full design scope — structure, architecture, interiors, façade, landscape and MEP — into one buildable set; ensure MEP is spatially accommodated within the architecture (shafts, plant rooms, clearances); run clash detection and resolve cross-discipline conflicts before they reach site.
• MEP Design Ownership: Own the MEP design brief on the client's behalf — define the technical scope and design or independently review the MEP, so that scope is driven by project requirements rather than by a contractor's commercial interest.
• Documentation Control: Produce and issue construction-ready sets with full version control, maintaining a single source of truth for all project documentation.
• Technical Input to Tenders: Prepare TOR and specifications and provide technical evaluation of contractors and design proposals.
• On-Site Technical Support: Resolve technical questions and clashes during construction (RFI), decide on redesign where required, and verify that built work matches the issued set.
• Change Control & Acceptance: Maintain the technical change register and its cross-discipline impact, and provide technical sign-off of design deliverables prior to payment.
• Operator Standards Intake: Incorporate hotel-operator brand standards as design inputs and carry them through into the documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction / Design Management or a related field.
• Experience: 8+ years in design and engineering, with a proven track record of coordinating multiple disciplines into a buildable set — not only producing a single discipline. A genuine design integrator.
• Hospitality Experience: Strong experience in hotel, resort, luxury residential or other high-end hospitality developments is highly preferred; familiarity with hotel- operator standards a plus.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of architectural, structural and MEP design and their coordination; ability to read and reconcile all disciplines and catch conflicts before site.
• Proven Integrator: Demonstrated track record of running clash detection and design-coordination that resolved cross-discipline conflicts before construction. Shortlisted candidates should be prepared to present a project they personally coordinated across all disciplines into an issued construction set.
• Owner-Side Independence & Integrity: Able to hold design contractors to account, challenge scope written to a contractor's own estimate, and keep design scope — particularly MEP — independent of works-contractor influence, with no design-build conflict of interest.
• Local Market: Fluent in Indonesian building codes (SNI), permits and the local design and contractor market; experience managing outsourced drafters and design consultants.
• Tools: Strong AutoCAD skills for issue and local permitting; documentation and version control. Professional BIM command — Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud — and the ability to enforce BIM standards across outsourced drafters will be a strong competitive advantage.
• Communication: Bahasa Indonesia essential; working English required, to operate with international leadership and local teams.
