Opportunity overview

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic educator to join Reigate Grammar School Sharjah (RGS Sharjah) as the founding head of senior school.

Opening in August 2027, initially for students up to Year 9, RGS Sharjah will be the first UK independent school in Sharjah. The successful candidate will become part of the founding team and assume responsibility to ensure the highest standards of pastoral care, learning and achievement for all students aged 11-18.

Role and responsibilities

Working closely with the executive principal and other senior leaders, the founding head of seniors will set a clear direction for the senior school, which ensures all members of the community are continually developing and learning, whilst keeping wellbeing at the heart of everything.

The head of seniors is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the senior school, including teaching and learning, student wellbeing, curriculum development, assessment, school growth, staffing, and budgets.

This role requires an innovative, energetic, and inspirational leader with a passion for secondary education and a deep understanding of IGCSE and A Level programmes.

Candidate profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of academic excellence, pastoral leadership, and school improvement.

They must also be able to inspire and sensitively lead a culturally rich, diverse, and dynamic international school community in Sharjah, balancing the needs of all stakeholders while ensuring alignment with the school’s vision, mission, and values.

Experience as a founding head of senior school or deputy, including establishing academic systems, policies, and school culture from the ground up, would be desirable but is not essential.
