Role overview
The successful candidate will provide consultant-level cardiothoracic and cardiac surgical care within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment supported by experienced consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and modern diagnostic, surgical, operating theatre, and critical care infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of cardiac, thoracic, and cardiothoracic surgical conditions.
Perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures according to clinical privileges, subspecialty expertise, and facility scope.
Manage patients requiring cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, and cardiovascular surgical interventions according to clinical expertise.
Evaluate surgical candidates, develop individualised treatment plans, conduct pre-operative assessments, and obtain informed consent.
Provide comprehensive pre-operative, perioperative, and post-operative cardiothoracic care.
Manage surgical complications and provide appropriate post-operative follow-up and continuity of care.
Collaborate closely with cardiologists, cardiac anaesthesiologists, intensivists, pulmonologists, and other multidisciplinary teams.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, surgical audits, clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with infection control, surgical safety, and international healthcare standards.
Requirements

American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS)
UK CCT / FRCS in cardiothoracic surgery
European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery / recognised national specialist certification
Royal College Certification (Canada)
Australian FRACS
Arab Board in cardiothoracic surgery
MD / MS / DNB / FCPS or equivalent recognised specialist qualification in cardiothoracic surgery
