Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing is a tool used by owners and developers of commercial real estate to finance energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resiliency measures that improve commercial property.

Founded in 2017, PLG is a leading national direct C-PACE lender. With an industry-leading balance sheet, PLG is focused on originating and servicing C-PACE loans nationwide. We are on the ground floor of something big - and we want you to be a part of it.

PLG is hiring a Vice President of Loan Servicing who will report to Karen Raitanen, Senior Vice President of Loan Servicing, and ideally sit in our Minneapolis HQ. This role will help manage and scale our growing portfolio of C-PACE loans. This is a hands-on role for someone with deep commercial loan or special-assessment servicing experience who wants to contribute to building an institutional-grade loan servicing infrastructure for a highly specialized and growing loan product. We are looking for a candidate with strong servicing fundamentals and the judgment to adapt and apply them to a lien structure that works differently than a conventional mortgage.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary but will primarily be focused on managing the full loan servicing lifecycle — amortization schedules, funds and escrow management, servicing-system administration, and coordinating complex tranched and A/B loan structures in multiple states.

If you have a drive to learn and work hard, and enjoy a growing, customer-focused environment, this is the role for you!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Owning the end-to-end servicing of PLG's C-PACE loan portfolio, from post-close onboarding through payoff
  • Serving as the dedicated lead for tranched and A/B loan structures, as well as other high-touch esoteric credits
  • Building and maintaining amortization schedules for each tranche, including state-specific assessment and payment timelines
  • Administering the loan servicing system — boarding new loans and tranches and keeping loan data accurate and current
  • Managing servicing flow of funds, ensuring appropriate payment application, disbursements, and reconciliation of principal and interest
  • Tracking the documentation required for each tranche by state and ensuring compliance with applicable C-PACE program requirements
  • Ongoing tracking of borrower covenant compliance, and other credit-agreement obligations post-closing
  • Managing and developing servicing team members (existing or hired) as the function grows
  • Coordinating investor, capital partner, and internal reporting on portfolio and tranche performance
  • Partnering with Origination, Underwriting, and Accounting to ensure a smooth hand-off from closing to servicing
  • Developing and documenting servicing procedures to reduce key-person risk and scale the platform
  • Other tasks as needed

Skill set must include the following:

  • 7+ years of loan servicing, commercial real estate finance, or structured/commercial lending experience, including direct experience with tranched or otherwise complex loan structures
  • Direct C-PACE experience strongly preferred; familiarity with state C-PACE programs and assessment mechanics a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage amortization schedules, funds flows, and escrow/reserve accounts with precision
  • Experience administering a loan servicing system and boarding new loans and tranches
  • Strong understanding of loan/lien mechanics, priority, default and remedy structures
  • Experience managing external stakeholder relationships (e.g., government agencies, trustees, servicers, or similar counterparties) as part of a servicing workflow
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with the ability to manage several projects and competing deadlines through checklists and timelines
  • Strong leadership and process-building skills, including the ability to document nuanced workflows and reduce key-person risk
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Awareness of how to use AI to help refine processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering accurate and quality work-product
