Your tasks

We have an opening for a construction cleaner for our seniors residence in downtown Nanaimo to prepare new construction for occupancy.

Duties include sweeping, high-level dusting, scraping stickers/paint from surfaces, sanitizing fixtures, and vacuuming with HEPA filters to meet safety and aesthetic standards. Assembling and organizing show suite and amenity space furniture including recording delivery, inventory and condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Debris & Waste Removal: Clearing large debris, leftover materials, trash, and hauling away waste to disposal areas.
• Rough Clean (Initial Phase): Removing large debris, sweeping, and dust removal to prepare the area for other workers.
• Final Clean (Detailing): Deep cleaning all surfaces, including wiping down walls, cabinets, appliances, and cleaning light fixtures.
• Surface Cleaning & Restoration: Scraping and cleaning paint, glue, or stickers from windows, glass, and surfaces.
• Floor Maintenance: Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and sometimes waxing/polishing surfaces using industrial equipment.
• Sanitization: Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, kitchen surfaces, and frequently touched areas.
• Detailing Fixtures: Cleaning blinds, moldings, and dusting ceilings and vents.

Requirements

Requirements & Skills

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and work in dusty environments.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring all surfaces are immaculate, including tight spaces, corners, and glass surfaces.
• Knowledge of Materials: Understanding how to clean different surfaces (e.g., hardwood, tiles, glass) without causing damage.
• Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to safety protocols when dealing with tools, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Teamwork: Ability to work alongside other trades and contractors in a fast-paced environment.
• Record keeping of areas that have been cleaned: need to documents areas that have been cleaned. Posting that suite has been cleaned.

Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada. Preference will be given to local candidates.
