Main responsibilities:

Co-ordinate with the Arabic Literacy Coach to ensure a bilingual approach to developing early literacy.

Be the named Literacy Lead for Mamoura, representing and delivering on the guidance and expectations from ADEK as needed.

Lead and champion the development of reading across the Primary Phase, ensuring consistency and high expectations.

Maintain strong knowledge of reading pedagogy, research and evidence-informed practice, including phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and reading for pleasure.

Lead the roll-out, implementation and monitoring of Reading Eggs, supporting staff to use the programme effectively and evaluating its impact.

Promote a strong reading culture through whole-school initiatives, events, reading challenges and opportunities that inspire pupils to read widely and regularly.

Monitor reading attainment, progress and provision, using assessment data, pupil voice, learning walks and book looks to identify strengths and areas for development.

Support teachers to provide effective intervention and challenge for pupils, particularly those who are not yet meeting age-related expectations.

Contribute to the SEF and SDP, providing accurate evaluation, evidence and priorities relating to reading.

Lead staff professional development (PD), coaching and sharing of effective practice to build staff confidence and expertise in teaching reading.

Lead parent information sessions and provide guidance to support families in developing reading at home.

Work collaboratively with senior leaders, Head of English, Director of Inclusion and the library team, to strengthen reading provision.

Represent the school's reading provision confidently during inspection interviews and professional conversations, articulating the school's vision, practice, impact and priorities.

Ensure relevant reading documentation, data and evidence are maintained to demonstrate the quality and impact of provision.

Keep reading at the heart of the Primary curriculum, ensuring pupils develop both the skills and love of reading needed to become confident, lifelong readers.
