WSH Officer

On behalf of the hiring company, which is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the built environment sector (or construction), we are looking for a suitable candidate to join them as a WSH Officer: Job Summary The WSH Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment across the company’s lift installation, modernisation, maintenance and service activities in Singapore. The role works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, technicians, subcontractors and management to ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health requirements, company procedures and customer/site safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Implement and maintain the company’s Workplace Safety and Health policies, procedures and programmes. Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits for lift installation, modernisation, maintenance and service works. Identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate control measures. Review and support the preparation of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures and other safety documentation. Conduct or coordinate toolbox meetings, safety briefings and safety induction programmes. Monitor compliance with Permit-to-Work requirements and site safety procedures where applicable. Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and technicians to address safety issues at project and service sites. Monitor subcontractors and workers to ensure compliance with company, customer and statutory safety requirements. Investigate workplace incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Maintain WSH records, incident reports, inspection reports, training records and statutory documentation. Coordinate statutory reporting and regulatory matters relating to workplace safety and health. Support internal and external WSH audits and customer safety inspections. Monitor the proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment and other safety equipment. Conduct safety training and promote WSH awareness among employees and subcontractors. Keep updated on changes to Singapore WSH legislation, Codes of Practice and industry requirements. Support management in continually improving the company’s safety culture and WSH performance. Perform other WSH-related duties as assigned. Requirements Must be a Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and possess a valid WSHO registration/certificate. Technical qualification in Workplace Safety & Health, Engineering, Building Services, Construction, M&E or a related technical discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant WSH experience, preferably in construction, M&E, lift/escalator, facilities management or related engineering industries. Good knowledge of Singapore Workplace Safety and Health legislation and site safety requirements. Experience in conducting site inspections, Risk Assessments and incident investigations. Familiar with Permit-to-Work systems and safe work practices. Able to communicate effectively with project teams, technicians, subcontractors, customers, and main contractors. Hands-on and comfortable working in both office and site environments. Good documentation and report-writing skills. Able to work independently and manage WSH matters across multiple project and service sites. Candidates who can start on short notice will be advantageous

Preferred Experience Experience in the following areas would be advantageous: Lift and escalator industry M&E installation and maintenance Construction or building services Working at height Lifting operations Subcontractor safety management Main-contractor and customer site safety requirements

Working Environment The position involves regular visits to project, maintenance, and customer sites across Singapore. As part of a smaller OEM operation, the WSH Officer is expected to take a practical and hands-on approach and work closely with both operational teams and management.
