Role Description

The Veterinary Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at Lamugee Farm in the Upper West Region of Ghana. The role involves providing routine and emergency veterinary care for livestock and poultry, including diagnosis, treatment, vaccination, and preventive health programs. The Veterinary Officer will conduct regular health checks, monitor disease outbreaks, and implement biosecurity measures across farm units. The Veterinary Officer will also train farm staff on animal handling, health monitoring, and hygiene standards, and collaborate with management to improve overall farm performance.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in Veterinary Medicine, with the ability to diagnose, treat, and prevent animal diseases. Applied knowledge of Science as it relates to animal physiology, disease processes, and evidence-based veterinary practices. Practical experience working with Livestock species (e.g. sheep, goats, pigs, etc.) in farm. Hands-on experience with Poultry health and management, including vaccination schedules and disease control. Demonstrated skills in Animal Health management, including preventive care, biosecurity, and health records. Relevant degree or diploma in Veterinary Medicine or Animal Health from a recognized institution. Ability to work on-site in rural farm conditions. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the capacity to train and guide farm staff. Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting; prior farm or agribusiness experience is an advantage.
