King’s College Riyadh is the first UK private school brand to establish a branch in Saudi Arabia, in genuine partnership with King’s College UK, which has been educating pupils in the UK and abroad for over 140 years.
Since opening in 2021, King’s has grown rapidly, expanding to Year 7 in August 2025, with plans to extend through to Year 13 (age 18), enabling pupils to complete their full King’s education in Riyadh. Unlike most international schools in the city, King’s is fully co-educational from Pre-School through Year 7.

Role overview
This is a varied teaching role for a qualified teacher who enjoys working across different year groups and being an active member of the wider school community. The successful candidate will provide additional teaching capacity across the school, delivering high-quality lessons, providing classroom cover and supporting short-term academic interventions where required.
The role would particularly suit a confident and flexible practitioner who can quickly build positive relationships with pupils and maintain consistently high expectations across a range of classes.
Key responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
Teach classes across the school Year 2-8, delivering high-quality lessons in line with the school’s curriculum and expectations.
Provide planned and short-term cover for teacher absence, professional development and other school commitments.
Work alongside class teachers during key lessons to increase teaching capacity and enable greater challenge, feedback and pupil engagement.
Deliver short-term academic interventions, including pre-teaching, re-teaching and consolidation of key curriculum knowledge and skills.
Support groups of pupils in preparation for assessments, competitions and other academic opportunities.
Provide additional teaching capacity during key points in the academic year, including assessment periods and curriculum initiatives.
Support pupils who have missed learning through absence or who require additional opportunities to consolidate particular areas of the curriculum.
Work collaboratively with teachers, Heads of Year and academic leaders to respond flexibly to priorities across the school.
Maintain high expectations for teaching, learning, behaviour and presentation in every class.
Follow existing planning and curriculum expectations when providing class cover, ensuring continuity and consistency for pupils.
Contribute to school events, enrichment opportunities, duties and the wider life of the school.
Undertake other appropriate teaching responsibilities according to the needs of the school.
About the role
No two days in this role are likely to look exactly the same. On one day, the intervention teacher may be providing release time for a teacher or covering a class; on another, they may be team-teaching, delivering a focused academic intervention or supporting an important school initiative.
The central purpose of the position is to provide high-quality, flexible teaching capacity across the school, ensuring continuity of learning and enabling the school to respond effectively to changing academic and operational needs.
We are looking for someone who enjoys the variety of school life, is confident stepping into different classrooms and will become a valued and visible member of our teaching community.
Pastoral care
Supervise pupils during break and lunchtimes in line with duty rotas.
Support pupils’ physical, emotional and social development.
Promote courtesy, good manners and high standards of hygiene.
Build positive relationships between pupils and adults.
Monitor and support pupil attendance, punctuality and safeguarding needs.
Management & professional duties
Follow and implement all school policies and procedures.
Create a purposeful, safe and well-organised learning environment with high-quality displays.
Work effectively with teaching assistants and colleagues across the school.
Foster strong home–school partnerships and maintain professional communication with parents.
Attend staff briefings, meetings, CPD sessions and school events as required.
Accompany pupils on educational visits and support school activities beyond the standard school day.
Cover lessons when required.
Maintain high standards of dress and conduct in line with local cultural expectations.
Safeguarding
Uphold all school safeguarding policies and procedures.
Prioritise pupil safety and wellbeing at all times.
Engage fully in safeguarding training and report concerns promptly.
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, qualified teacher status (essential).
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant teaching experience (essential).
Experience teaching the UK National Curriculum or EYFS (essential).
A proven ability to inspire, motivate, and engage pupils of all abilities (essential).
Strong classroom management and pastoral skills (essential).
Experience working with EAL learners (desirable).
Enjoys working collaboratively and contributing beyond their own classroom.
Is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils.
An understanding of the expectations of UK independent and international schools (desirable).
