Production Assistant

Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation and production of leather bags according to approved designs and patterns. Assist with measuring, marking, and cutting leather, lining, foam, fabric, and other bag-making materials. Support the production team in preparing materials and components for sewing and assembly. Assist with sewing, stitching, gluing, folding, assembling, and finishing bag components as directed. Operate industrial sewing machines when trained and authorized to do so. Assist with the use of a cylinder-bed industrial sewing machine under supervision where required. Follow patterns, measurements, and production instructions accurately. Assist with installing zippers, buckles, handles, straps, rivets, buttons, and other bag hardware. Support the production team in ensuring proper alignment, stitching, finishing, and overall product quality. Inspect materials and finished products for defects, damage, or inconsistencies. Assist with correcting minor production defects and reworking products where necessary. Keep leather, tools, machines, and production materials properly arranged and stored. Assist in maintaining and cleaning sewing machines, cutting tools, workstations, and other production equipment. Help monitor the use of leather, thread, lining, adhesives, and other materials to minimize wastage. Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing completed bags for delivery or storage. Follow production schedules and help the team meet daily and weekly production targets. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment. Follow all company safety and quality-control procedures. Perform other production-related duties assigned by the Production Manager.

Requirements:

Minimum of SSCE/WAEC, OND, or equivalent. Previous experience in bag making, leatherwork, tailoring, fashion production, or manufacturing is an advantage. Basic knowledge of leather bag production and assembly processes. Ability to use basic sewing and production tools. Experience operating an industrial sewing machine is an added advantage. Willingness to learn how to operate a cylinder-bed industrial sewing machine. Good attention to detail and ability to follow patterns and measurements accurately. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to work for extended periods in a production environment. Hardworking, reliable, punctual, and willing to learn. Good teamwork and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and meet production deadlines. Knowledge of leather materials, cutting, stitching, and finishing techniques is an added advantage.
