SDE II - Backend

Accountabilities: As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for building robust systems, improving platform capabilities, and ensuring high-quality delivery across engineering initiatives.

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and modern microservice architecture principles.

Architect clean, modular solutions that support reliability, maintainability, and future growth.

Build and optimize RESTful APIs and third-party service integrations.

Design efficient database structures and optimize queries across relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, with exposure to NoSQL systems where relevant.

Develop event-driven architectures using messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Implement caching strategies using technologies like Redis or Memcached to improve system performance and reduce latency.

Contribute to distributed system design, ensuring solutions can support high availability, throughput, and concurrency.

Analyze and optimize backend performance across APIs, databases, and infrastructure layers.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code through effective unit and integration testing practices.

Collaborate with product, frontend, QA, DevOps, and other engineering stakeholders to deliver reliable features end-to-end.

Take ownership of medium-to-large technical initiatives and contribute to improving engineering processes and execution.

Support production stability through monitoring, debugging, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings strong backend engineering expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to independently deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

2–4 years of hands-on backend development experience in a product-based company, preferably within SaaS or technology environments.

Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.

Solid understanding of relational databases, including MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.

Hands-on experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ for asynchronous and event-driven systems.

Experience implementing caching solutions using Redis, Memcached, or similar technologies.

Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code practices, testing discipline, and scalable design principles.

Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and work independently with ownership.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and product teams.

Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, or similar platforms is a plus.

Exposure to observability tools, infrastructure automation, or cloud environments is beneficial.

Interest in AI/ML-powered products or experience working with AI-integrated solutions is a plus.

Experience in a high-growth startup environment is advantageous.
