Accountabilities: As the Financial Controller, you will lead accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and develop scalable processes that support business growth. You will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with an operational mindset to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and provide valuable financial insights. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and cash flow reports. Develop and maintain financial documentation, including accounting policies, procedures, schedules, and reporting frameworks. Oversee accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, payroll accounting, fixed assets, capitalization, and expense management. Ensure accurate accounting records and consistent application of accounting standards across all transactions. Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to reduce risk and support compliance requirements. Manage financial, tax, and external audits while serving as the primary contact for auditors, advisors, and finance partners. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions. Lead improvements to financial systems, processes, and reporting workflows through automation and AI-enabled solutions. Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, improve data quality, and streamline finance operations. Support the implementation and optimization of accounting tools and systems. Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members while building a scalable finance function. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial workflows and promote strong financial practices. Provide guidance to operational teams on policies, controls, and financial best practices. Requirements: The ideal candidate is a finance leader with strong accounting expertise, excellent analytical abilities, and experience building efficient processes in a growing organization. You should be comfortable managing complex financial operations, collaborating across teams, and driving continuous improvement. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of financial close, reporting, and team leadership responsibilities. Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, including IFRS and Canadian GAAP. Experience with revenue recognition, consolidation, multi-entity, and multi-currency reporting. Proven experience managing audits, compliance activities, and external financial advisors. Strong understanding of accounting operations, controls, and financial processes. Experience improving accounting systems, implementing automation tools, and leveraging AI solutions is highly valued. Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and sound judgment. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving processes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Fluency in English and French. Experience in SaaS, technology, or high-growth environments is preferred. Previous Big Four accounting experience is an asset. Knowledge of direct and indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions, including North America and Australia, is a plus. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and variance analysis is preferred. Benefits: Fully remote position open to candidates based in Canada.
