Director of Software Engineering
Accountabilities: The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for leading engineering strategy, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of scalable SaaS products. This role requires strong technical leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to influence business outcomes through technology.
Lead and develop multiple software engineering teams across global locations, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
Define and execute engineering strategies that support business objectives and long-term product growth.
Oversee the delivery of cloud-based SaaS solutions while ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and business stakeholders to translate customer needs into effective technical solutions.
Champion engineering best practices, including Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, and modern software architecture.
Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering managers and technical leaders while supporting career progression across the organization.
Establish and monitor KPIs and OKRs to measure engineering performance, delivery effectiveness, quality, and operational excellence.
Manage engineering resources, budgets, capacity planning, and organizational growth initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and team structures.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in building SaaS platforms, managing distributed teams, and driving modern software development practices.
10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering teams.
Proven experience managing globally distributed and multicultural engineering organizations.
Strong experience designing, building, and delivering cloud-based SaaS applications.
Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
Expertise in Agile software development, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and modern architecture patterns.
Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and inspire high-performing engineering teams.
Strong technical judgment with the ability to balance business priorities, scalability, and engineering quality.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both technical and executive audiences.
Experience establishing engineering metrics, operational processes, and performance frameworks.
Experience with AI/ML technologies or regulated industries is a plus.
