Human Resources & Recruitment Assistant

Manchester

£16,200 - £18,000 per annum (Pro rata of £27,000 - £30,000 FTE based on 37.5 hours per week)

Permanent, Part Time

Hours: Either three full days per week, 9:00am - 5:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, or the equivalent hours spread across 4 - 5 days.

Holidays: 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays (FTE), increasing with length of service to 30 days per year.

The role

We are recruiting on behalf of an established and highly regarded legal organisation in Manchester for an HR & Recruitment Assistant to join their team.

Working closely with the Head of Human Resources, you will help deliver a high-quality HR service to employees, managers and legal professionals across several locations. While based in Manchester, the role will involve occasional travel to other sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop broad HR experience within a supportive environment. As part of a small HR team, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of activities across recruitment, employee administration, payroll, benefits, employee relations and HR systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting managers with end-to-end recruitment campaigns, including preparing and placing adverts, reviewing applications, arranging and attending interviews and supporting other selection activities. Completing pre-employment checks, preparing contracts and supporting the onboarding process. Managing starter and leaver administration. Supporting the administration and communication of employee benefits and responding to employee queries. Preparing payroll change information for the external payroll provider. Coordinating training including First Aid, Fire Warden, Manual Handling and other courses. Undertaking appropriate training to act as a First Aider and Fire Warden for the Manchester office. Maintaining accurate employee records and the HR database. Maintaining recruitment equality monitoring information and assisting with annual reporting. Monitoring sickness absence and supporting managers with the application of absence management procedures. Supporting the Head of HR and managers with disciplinary, capability and grievance processes. Helping to organise occasional employee social events. Acting as a first point of contact for queries relating to HR policies, terms and conditions, benefits and other employment matters.

About you

We are looking for someone with experience of recruitment administration, ideally alongside some broader HR and payroll administration experience.

You will be highly organised and comfortable managing a varied workload, with excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills. You will also be confident producing accurate, professional documentation and communicating with colleagues at different levels.

You will be approachable, adaptable and committed to providing an excellent service while contributing to a positive and inclusive working environment.

A CIPD qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
