Residential Support Worker & Senior Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

Innovex Resource Group is currently recruiting experienced Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers for a children’s residential setting in Oldham.

We are looking for candidates who already have hands-on experience working with children and young people within residential children’s homes or similar children’s care settings .

The successful candidates will support children and young people who may have emotional, behavioural, social or complex needs, helping to provide a safe, structured and nurturing home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, child-centred support to children and young people.
• Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
• Support children with daily routines, education, appointments, activities and independent living skills.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance during difficult or challenging situations.
• Support young people who may display challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
• Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and safeguarding documentation.
• Promote independence, confidence, positive choices and personal development.
• Support children with community activities, hobbies and social opportunities.
• Maintain professional boundaries and promote a safe and consistent residential environment.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns immediately.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, families, education providers and other professionals.

Additional Responsibilities – Senior Support Worker Senior Residential Support Workers will also be expected to:

• Lead shifts and support the effective running of the home.
• Allocate duties and provide guidance to Residential Support Workers.
• Mentor and support less experienced team members.
• Ensure care plans, risk assessments and daily records are completed to a high standard.
• Support incident management and appropriate safeguarding escalation.
• Participate in handovers, team meetings and reviews.
• Help maintain compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards .
• Promote consistency and high standards of care across the staff team.

Essential Requirements Previous experience working in a children’s residential setting is required.

• Experience supporting children or young people with emotional, behavioural or complex needs.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to complete accurate care documentation.
• Ability to work as part of a rota, including weekends and other required shifts.
• Right to work in the UK.

For Senior Residential Support Worker applicants , previous senior, shift-leading or mentoring experience within a children’s residential setting is highly desirable.

A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children and Young People would be advantageous, particularly for Senior Support Worker applicants.
