Precision • Accuracy • Construction Control

Location: Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Experience: 4–7 Years

THE OPPORTUNITY

Harmony Gardens & Estate Development Limited is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surveyor to support the accurate execution of construction and infrastructure works across our project sites.

The Surveyor will be responsible for providing accurate *setting-out, measurements, levels, coordinates, alignments and survey control* required for the successful execution of building and infrastructure works.

The role will work closely with the Construction Project Manager, Site Engineers, Builders, Architects and other technical teams to ensure that construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and established survey controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Setting Out & Construction Surveying

  • Carry out setting-out activities for building and infrastructure works.
  • Establish and maintain site control points, benchmarks and reference coordinates.
  • Set out building grids, foundations, columns, walls, roads, drainage and other construction elements.
  • Establish accurate lines, levels, elevations and dimensions.
  • Ensure construction activities are positioned in accordance with approved drawings.

2.Measurements & Levels*- Conduct accurate site measurements and surveys.

  • Take and record existing ground levels and site conditions.
  • Carry out level checks throughout construction activities.
  • Verify dimensions, elevations, alignments and gradients.
  • Provide accurate survey data to support construction decisions.

3.Construction Monitoring

  • Monitor construction works against approved survey coordinates and levels.
  • Check foundation positions, structural elements and other critical construction points.
  • Carry out as-built surveys where required.
  • Identify deviations from approved drawings and survey controls.
  • Report discrepancies promptly to the Site Engineer and Construction Project Manager.

4.Survey Data & Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain accurate survey records.
  • Maintain field books, coordinates, levels and measurement records.
  • Produce survey sketches, reports and relevant survey documentation.
  • Maintain records of established benchmarks and control points.
  • Support preparation of as-built documentation.

5.Survey Equipment

  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment including Total Station, Auto Level, GPS/GNSS and other relevant instruments.
  • Ensure survey equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Conduct appropriate checks before and during survey operations.
  • Safeguard Company survey equipment and accessories.

6.Site Coordination

  • Work closely with Site Engineers, Builders, Project Managers and other technical personnel.
  • Provide survey information required for daily construction activities.
  • Coordinate setting-out requirements with site teams.
  • Support technical inspections and construction verification activities.

AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

The Surveyor will be authorised to:

  • Establish and maintain survey control points within assigned sites.
  • Carry out setting-out and verification activities.
  • Identify and report construction deviations relating to dimensions, levels, coordinates and alignment.
  • Recommend corrective action where survey discrepancies are identified.
  • Request clarification where site conditions or drawings conflict with established survey information.

*The Surveyor shall not independently alter approved designs, dimensions or construction specifications without the appropriate technical approval.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a technically competent Surveyor with strong experience in building construction, estate development, infrastructure or civil works.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of construction surveying and setting-out.
  • Practical experience with Total Station and Auto Level.
  • Knowledge of GPS/GNSS surveying will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of coordinates, benchmarks, levels and construction drawings.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural and civil drawings.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify and communicate construction deviations.
  • Good site coordination and communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

A degree or HND in Surveying, Surveying & Geoinformatics or a related discipline is required. Professional registration or relevant professional certification will be an advantage.

  • Reduction of construction errors arising from incorrect setting-out.
  • Accuracy and completeness of survey records.

  • Timely identification and reporting of deviations.
  • Quality of as-built survey information.
  • Effective coordination with construction and technical teams.

THE SCALE OF THE ROLE

The Surveyor will play a critical role in maintaining *construction accuracy across Harmony Gardens' expanding development programme*.

From establishing site controls to setting out foundations, structures, roads and infrastructure, the accuracy of this role directly affects construction quality, material usage, project timelines and the overall integrity of completed developments.
