Handpicked Recruitment is a specialist finance and accountancy recruitment business with a strong network of qualified and part-qualified accounting professionals.

Founded by an experienced Chartered Certified Accountant, we bring genuine industry knowledge to recruitment. We understand the technical demands of the roles we fill, but we also recognise that long-term success depends on culture, ambition and personal fit.

Our clients range from major listed organisations and established professional-services firms to entrepreneurial and fast-growing businesses. We recruit across all levels, from CFO's and FD's through ti accounts assistants, with particular strength in technical accounting, financial reporting, audit, energy, shipping, oil and gas, and real estate.

We are now looking for an accomplished Recruitment Director to help lead the next phase of our growth.

The Opportunity

This is a senior, hands-on position with genuine influence over the direction of the business.

Working alongside the existing directors, you will take responsibility for growing revenue, developing the recruitment team and strengthening Handpicked Recruitment’s position within the finance and accountancy market.

You will inherit an established brand, an extensive candidate network and strong client relationships. Your role will be to build on these foundations—creating new opportunities while protecting the personal, knowledgeable service for which Handpicked Recruitment is known.

Your Responsibilities

You will:

• Develop and deliver a clear commercial growth strategy
• Lead, coach and expand a high-performing recruitment team
• Grow existing client relationships and secure new business
• Build senior relationships with finance leaders, hiring managers and professional-services firms
• Identify opportunities to expand established markets and develop complementary finance specialisms
• Maintain an active presence in key accounts and senior-level searches
• Establish clear targets, forecasts and performance measures
• Improve recruitment processes, technology and management information
• Strengthen the Handpicked Recruitment brand across clients, candidates and the wider finance community
• Maintain consistently high standards of candidate care, integrity and delivery
• Work closely with the directors on business planning, investment and long-term growth

About you

We are looking for someone who can combine commercial drive with credible, people-focused leadership.

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience within agency recruitment, preferably in finance, accountancy or professional services
• A strong record of growing revenue, winning clients and developing profitable recruitment teams
• Established relationships with senior finance professionals and hiring decision-makers
• Experience managing, coaching and retaining successful recruiters
• The confidence to operate strategically while remaining close to clients, candidates and live assignments
• Strong commercial judgement, forecasting skills and financial awareness
• A consultative approach built around expertise, trust and long-term relationships
• The ambition to make a visible and lasting contribution to an owner-led business

Knowledge of technical accounting, financial reporting, audit or specialist markets such as energy, shipping, oil and gas, and real estate would be especially valuable.

What we offer

• A base salary of £90,000–£110,000, depending on experience
• Achievable on-target earnings of £150,000–£170,000
