child and youth worker

*Job Summary:*

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Care Workers to join our team as a *Casual *Staff member, in this role, you will be responsible for providing support and care to children and youth in a residential setting. Your primary focus will be on creating a safe and nurturing environment, promoting emotional well-being, and facilitating positive development.

*Responsibilities:*

• Provide daily care, supervision and guidance to children and youth in a residential facility.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages personal growth and development.
• Implement and follow established care plans for each child/youth, addressing their unique needs and goals.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a comprehensive approach to child/youth care.
• Facilitate and participate in recreational activities, educational programs, and therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of resident progress and incidents.
• Respond effectively to crisis or challenging behaviors, implementing de-escalation techniques as needed.

*Qualifications:*

• Minimum high school diploma or previous experience in residential care settings or similar environments
• Strong understanding of child development. Trauma-informed care, and therapeutic interventions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

*Requirements*:

• MCFD criminal record check
• Valid driver?s license (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Tuberculosis Test (or willingness to obtain) Physician letter to verify ability to work in this field (in house form will be provided to bring to physician)
• Mandt training (or willingness to obtain)
• Food Safe Training (or willingness to obtain)
• Naloxone Training (or willingness to obtain)

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Night shifts
• Day Shifts
• Evening Shifts
• On call
• Weekends as needed

Licence/Certification:

• Driving License Class 5 (required)

Work Location: In person

Pay: From $27.54 per hour
