Full-time · [City / Remote] · Reports to the [CTO / VP Engineering]
You lead a team of [6–10] backend and frontend engineers. You hire them, grow them, and make sure they ship the right things at a steady pace.
What you'll do
- Lead a team working in Rails, Go, Vue, and React.
- Hire: define the role, run interviews, close candidates, and onboard them.
- Hold weekly 1:1s, give clear feedback, set growth plans, and run performance reviews.
- Plan delivery with product: break down the roadmap, commit to realistic dates, and flag risks early.
- Own how the team works: planning, code review standards, releases, and incident response.
- Balance features against tech debt, reliability, and security, together with the solution architect.
- Track team health with a few metrics, such as deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate, and act on them.
- Stay technical: review designs, join incident calls, and pick up small tickets when it unblocks the team.

- 7+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years managing engineers directly.
- A background as a backend or full-stack engineer. Rails, Go, or modern frontend experience helps you earn trust.

- Experience delivering projects on time across several teams and dependencies.
- Scrum or Kanban experience, without process for its own sake.
- Clear communication with engineers, product, and executives, in writing and in person.
Nice to have
- Experience managing managers or a team of 10+.
- Experience growing a team at a startup or scale-up.
- Experience with fintech, payments, or marketplace products.
- Experience owning an engineering or cloud budget.
