Marine Operations Coordinator

The Marine Operations Coordinator will provide Operational guidance to the commercial and remote operations teams. In this role, you will partner collaboratively to drive business growth opportunities. You will establish and foster good relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders and enhance our operational performance across multiple locations through best practices, proactive risk management and knowledge sharing. You will play a key part in driving operational excellence, developing team capabilities, improving processes and contributing directly to voyage profitability, risk management and strategic decision-making.
Your key responsibilities will be:
People /Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with a diverse commercial team guiding them on Operational matters, adding value through effective operational decisions.
- Strengthen our Commercial Operations capability through a good understanding of the PNL and sharing key learnings with the Commercial and remote Operations teams.
- Driving Operational Excellence across our remote Operations teams -- support the Vessel Operations team in India by providing clear direction, guidance and technical support.
- Train, coach and develop team members to strengthen their technical capabilities, autonomy and operational awareness.
- Close collaboration with the business development team to identify new unconventional opportunities.
Operational Oversight and Execution Management
Whilst you will not directly Operate vessels, a clear understanding of the entire voyage process and our systems will be essential to oversee voyage execution from fixing to completion, ensuring efficiency, compliance and cost control whilst supporting Vessel Operators in managing operational priorities and risks.
- Anticipate operational risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies - consider cost, risk, safety, contractual and reputational implications when making operational decisions.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex operational matters.
Customer and Owners Engagement
- Act as Account Steward and single point of Operational contact for our strategic customers, own the Operational relationship ensuring structured engagement with our customers and effectively handle escalations.
- Be the main Operational tag to assigned strategic Owners, effectively managing the Operational relationship.
- Remain responsible for the Operational SOPs of key Customers & Owners.
Digital Enablement and Process Improvement
- Active involvement in digital/efficiency improvement initiatives to simplify our processes.
- Monitor and assess new technologies, tools and software systems relevant to dry bulk operations.
- Support the implementation of new systems, processes and best practices.
- Encourage the Operations team to adopt a continuous improvement mindset.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of twelve years of related work experience ashore
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Dry Bulk Sailing experience will be a plus
PRIOR BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCES
- Knowledge of IMOS, Shipfix and DA Desk
