Pork production technician
Education:
No degree, certificate or diploma. Asset languages: Portuguese. Spanish; Castilian.
Work site environment:
Hog and pig farming. Outdoors. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Livestock. All weather conditions.
Work setting:
Rural area. Remote location.
Tasks:
- Diagnose livestock health issues.
- Handling animals.
- Monitoring animal health.
- Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration.
- Weaning.
- Feed and tend animals.
- Maintain financial and production records.
- Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
- Maintain livestock performance records.
- Maintain quality control and production records.
- Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens.
- Perform general farm duties.

- Feeding and watering system.
- Tractor.
