FUL - Engineering Technician

You will serve as a FUL - Engineering Technician. The Engineering Technician serves as the primary source for computer-aided design (CAD) for the LowerColorado Dams Office, Parker Dam Division, and is responsible for reviewing designs for compliance withcurrent industry practices and ensuring that designs fit field conditions. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Major duties

Develops, prepares, and/or reviews plans, specifications, and cost estimates for construction and proposed or ongoing projects. Reviews designs for compliance with current industry practices and ensures they fit field conditions; recommends modifications when issues are identified. Utilizes automated engineering drafting and design systems and applications. Uses a variety of contracting processes to provide engineering oversight for construction, architectural, or engineering contracts. Validates data used in and loaded into electronic or automated design and records management applications, and provides technical oversight to ensure data integrity Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/02/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficultyand complexity to at least the GS-08 level in federal service having demonstrated experience performing thefollowing: 1) Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent software to develop engineering drawings and 2)Reviewing statements of work, construction schedules, and contractor payment requests; OR You must possess a masters degree or two full years (36 sem hrs) of graduate level education in a field related to this position. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position allows substituting education for experience. You must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable.
