The National Centre for Register-based Research (NCRR) and Research Center for Health Literacy and Equity (REACH), Department of Public Health at Faculty of Health Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in the field of register-based psychiatric and social inequality epidemiology as per 1 December 2026. The position is a fixed-term position for 36 months with a dedication of 37 hours/week divided between NCRR (80%) and REACH (20%).

Your job responsibilities As an Assistant Professor of register-based psychiatric and social inequality epidemiology, you are expected to conduct research at a high international level and to develop an independent academic profile through both individual scholarship and collaboration with colleagues. You are committed to delivering high-quality teaching and supervision and bring collaborative skills, and intellectual curiosity. You are eager to engage in the academic community at Aarhus University and contribute to strengthening the department's national and international profile. We also value academic citizenship. This includes active participation in collegial collaboration, mentoring, and the social and professional life of the department. We therefore expect you to be an engaged and visible member of the department's daily academic environment.

Your main tasks will consist of: Independent research of high international quality, including publication. Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding. Make applications as needed for access to Danish population-based registries or other types of data. Perform statistical analysis using programmes such as Stata or R. Collaborate within two active research groups at NCRR and REACH with national and international collaborators. Write scientific articles and participate in international congresses. Teaching and supervising students at Bachelor's and Master's level and contributing to the continued development of innovative teaching activities (this applies only to the part of the position that relates to REACH). Your competences PhD degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine or public health sciences with a strong quantitative component Postdoctoral experience in register-based psychiatric epidemiology Experience using Danish registers (civil registration system, hospital register, prescription register, causes of death register, etc.) Experience using genetic datasets and clinical databases (RKKP) Experience analysing trends over time in key epidemiological measures Several publications in international peer-reviewed journals as first author and co-author Experience teaching PhD courses will be a plus Fluent in oral and written English. International applicants are expected to learn Danish, and Aarhus University arranges Danish teaching. As a person, you are motivated, ambitious, take ownership and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Your primary place of work will be at NCRR, the Department of Public Health, Bartholins Allé 2, DK-8000 Aarhus C, Denmark, and one day a week at REACH, Dalgas Avenue 4, DK-8000 Aarhus C.

Terms of employment Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of appointment as an assistant professor, but may also be obtained in other ways. The applicant is required to have completed a university pedagogical programme or an equivalent programme. Further information on the appointment procedure can be found in the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities . The appointment is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne). Remuneration is in accordance with the above, and the Salary agreement catalogue for staff at Health . The yearly base salary for a fulltime associate professor is DKK 706.233,06 (including a position related supplement, a pre-agreed associate professor supplememt and pension (18.07%)). Additional supplement(s) can be negotiated dependent on experience, special qualifications and performance of special functions. Authorisation supplement(s) will be granted, if relevant for the position. Your local eligible trade union representative at Aarhus University negotiates your salary on your behalf. Researchers recruited from abroad are offered a special researcher tax scheme with a lower tax rate. Travel and moving expenses may be covered according to the employee in question and, to a limited extent, the accompanying family.
